History
Kumbeshwar Technical School (KTS) was founded in 1983 by former State Council Member, Mr Siddhi Bahadur Khadgi.
The school was registered in 1987 under His Majesty's Government, Ministry of Education and Social Welfare, Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), Social Service National Co-ordination Council (now Social Welfare Council (SWC), the District Administration Office (CDO) and District Education Office.
The school has developed strong links with other non-governmental organisations and is also involved in socio-economic development of women and children from low-income households. Although the target group has been broadened since 1986, the school was initially established to assist the Pode community and other socially and economically deprived children from the immediate neighbourhood including people migrated from remote areas. Mr. Kabindra Khadga, the son of founder chairman has implemented the first KTS programmes in 1983 for the Pode community. A childcare project was established followed by six adult literacy classes, nutrition and health clinic, which included immunization programme.
In 1984 a primary school was opened for the children and carpet weaving training programme was introduced for adults. Over the past eighteen years, the school has slowly and steadily developed income generating programmes. The programmes under KTS umbrella are primary and nursery school for 250 children, an orphanage hostel for 19 children, vocational training programme for above 15 years young men/women in carpentry, carpet weaving, wool spinning and hand knitting and a daycare centre for kids of trainees and producers.
