Knitwear producers knitting the knitwear products. This year 74 new knitwear accessories and Christmas ornament products were designed and developed by KTS staffs and producers. The new designs were circulated to all the KTS buyers.
KTS is trying to maintain best quality knitwear products. Knitwear market is growing which has helped KTS’s income generating programme a lot. KTS graduates, college girls, house wives, physically challenged people are getting job opportunity. Its sales revenue is the major contributor to the KTS social activities. The knitwear unit has become a back bone of the school. KTS is very proud of its work and its contribution towards the poverty alleviation in the country.
This year 28 new graduates joined in the hand knitting production unit. 542 producers (539 women 2 physically challenged women and 1 man) producing knitwear for KTS. Among the 542 producers, 208 are working directly and 344 working through 13 women group leaders. Besides 542 producers 2710 women and 10 men are also engaged to produce knitwear for KTS, whom we call indirect producers. Beside, 15 women in wool winding, 5 women in Dyeing totalling 20 women are also directly involved in this unit. Altogether around 2710 women and 10 men befitting from about 542 house holds in 5 districts of Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavre and Sindhupalchowk.
We have been getting orders from the Fair Trade Company Japan / People Tree UK, Consorzio CTM Altramarcato Italy, Ten Thousand Villages Canada, Ten Thousand Villages USA, SERRV Self help International and other customers.
The Fair Trade Company Japan / People Tree UK's feedback and comments have been excellent help to improve our quality in hand knitwear products.
This year knitwear sales increased by 61% and expenses by 72% compared to last year.
