The short term free hand knitting training is going smoothly. In the training KTS trains different
styles of knitting techniques based on graphic designs. The training is 3 months long - 2 hours a day 5
days a week. KTS is provides knitting needles
and equipments to those who are really deprived.
During the training period, KTS provides
all raw materials and stationery free of
cost for practical work. After training KTS
gives job opportunity to all the graduates who
are willing to join KTS.
During the training if any trainee has picked up knitting skills quickly KTS provides job opportunities during training period to knit socks, scarf etc. This has encouraged knitting trainees to complete training and work in future.
This year 49 trainees completed the training
in 3 batches and 28 graduates joined the production
unit. More than 90% graduates are
utilizing their knitting skills and earning their
livelihood.
21% of expenses were covered by participants contributions and Fair Trade Company Japan and the balance 79% expenses were covered by the income generating programmes - knitwear and carpet sales revenue.
